Come and Sing

Come and join us in Dundee to celebrate the centenary of the Caird Hall and its organ with FOCHO’s Honorary President Gordon Stewart. You’ll have the opportunity to sing Gabriel Fauré’s popular and moving Requiem and other well-loved pieces. And of course you’ll be able to enjoy the romantic colours of the magnificent Caird Hall organ, played by Dundee city organist Stuart Muir.

The hall will be open for registration from 1230, when tea and coffee will be available for singers. We will rehearse between 1330 and 1715, with a break in the middle. The informal performance will take place at 1900. The hall café-bar will be open afterwards, allowing you to socialise with fellow singers and with Gordon.

There’s plenty of time between the rehearsal and the performance for you to find a bite to eat at one of the nearby restaurants. The hall is right in the centre of Dundee.

Gordon was for 15 years one of the regular conductors of BBC television’s long-running series Songs of Praise, and he has been musical director for broadcasts on BBC Radio 2, 3 and 4. Gordon was born in Dundee and studied in Manchester and Geneva. For fifteen years he was a cathedral organist, first in Manchester then in Blackburn. In recent years he has been awarded honorary fellowships by the Royal College of Organists, the Guild of Church Musicians and the Royal School of Church Music, and an honorary doctorate by the University of Huddersfield.

Singers’ places cost £20 each (£15 for FOCHO members, £5 for students and schoolchildren).

Audience tickets will be available separately for £5. These will be released closer to the time of the performance. Please book these via the box office:
