Summer Organ Sessions: Ronan McQuade

Friday, 19 Apr 2024

1:00pm – 2:00pm

Leisure & Culture Dundee has announced the first of its Summer Organ Sessions, aimed at promoting the Caird Hall Organ and nurturing the talent of young organists. The session will feature Ronan McQuade and will take place on Friday, 19 April, 2024.

Ronan, aged 24, is in his second year of organ studies with David Hamilton at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland after some time spent studying engineering and then theology and philosophy in Rome. He is currently the organist of St. Joseph’s RC Church in Blantyre and organist of St. Aloysius’ College, Glasgow, which will take him to Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral next month. He enjoys giving organ recitals and is a regular recitalist at the Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum. Ronan is also a Trustee for the Glasgow Society of Organists. Away from the organ bench, he enjoys cooking, culture and exercise.

Susan Gillan, Caird Hall Manager said

‘This new initiative by Leisure and Culture Dundee seeks to actively encourage young organists in their career development while providing audiences with an opportunity to experience the fantastic sound of the Caird Hall Organ in all its glory.

‘We are pleased to launch the Summer Organ Sessions with such a talented young organist as Ronan McQuade. This concert not only celebrates the rich tradition of organ music but also provides a platform for emerging talents like Ronan to shine.’

The concert coincides with International Organ Day, a global celebration of organ music held annually in April.

The event on Friday 19 April 2024 is free, doors open at 12.30pm and the Concert starts at 1 pm
